Feeling lost in the What Ifs

Do you ever wonder what it’s like to have nothing to regret? Have you found yourself wandering, feeling uneasy because you have something to regret? “Is it my decision in the past that’s affects my life now?” I’ve always questioned the decisions I’ve made and envisioned the life I could have lived.

“What if I had taken that opportunity to travel the world when I had the chance?”

Since I was a child, I’ve envisioned traveling the world in my own car, camping, taking long rides, watching sunrises and sunsets, passing by rivers and beaches, and visiting overlooks to see city lights at night. Yet, there are the ‘what ifs’ – what if I never get a car? What if I can’t fulfill my promise to myself to achieve my childhood dreams? But now, with car dealers and financing companies offering both brand new and second-hand cars, I seized the opportunity and got myself a car. This has given me the chance to visit places I’ve only seen on television or in postcards, like Taal Volcano and the rice terraces.

What if I have taken the risk and started my own business?

“What if?” That’s the doubt that prevents people from taking the next step. “What if I took the risk and started my own business? What if it’s not for me?” I always ask this question many times. I had always dreamed of starting my own business, imagining opening a coffee shop that becomes an everyday stop for someone sharing their tales of their lives and dreams while savoring the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. But here I am, feeling lost, worrying about my future, feeling left behind, sticking to a job in a corporate office, seeing people happy in social media about their own coffee shops, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was meant for something more. Slowly getting to the point where I now understand why things happened that way. It took me a long time to realize that not everything in life is meant to be a beautiful story. Life isn’t only meant for progression and productivity. Even if things don’t work out as planned, remember that every setback is just a stepping stone to something greater. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I was determined to make this dream a reality. Even if I’m scared, unsure, not ready, I’ll try anyway. May we all have the courage to try and to keep trying.

What if tomorrow never comes?

Do you believe you can still achieve your goals and dreams if tomorrow never comes? So, stop waiting for others to bring you happiness. Pack your bags, grab your keys, start your engine, and embark on a solo journey. Take a long drive, visit the beach alone, or explore your own city. Take a moment to nurture your soul, indulge in self-love, and revel in your own happiness because the right time isn’t something we wait for; it’s something we create. Allow yourself the space to grow and discover, knowing that the lessons you learn can change your life forever.

Don’t be too hard on yourself for feeling lost or confused; life is a long journey, there’s so much to explore, so don’t let yourself get stuck in the same situation over and over again.
