Global Dominion for PTTC’s Global MSME Academy
February 2019: the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) held the soft launch of the Global MSME Academy in their very establishment. It is a multi-stakeholder collaboration of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and PTTC, Lead-more Development, Inc., New San Jose Builders, Inc., and other industry partners, launching the Integrated Center for Entrepreneurship” or “ICE Project”. The project name complements PTTC’s brand as the Philippines’ MSME Academy to promote more globally competitive MSMEs that are regionally integrated, resilient, sustainable and innovative, thereby performing as key drivers of inclusive Philippine economic growth.
The program started with a welcome serenade by the John Van De Steen Male Choir and remarks from the PTTC Executive Director Nestor Palabyab.
Engineer Cesar S. Sanqui Jr. (New San Jose Builders, Inc. President), Brother Bo Sanchez, Undersecretary Abdulgani M. Macatoman, and DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez were some of the key personalities who graced the event with their messages.
“Sa Enterprise Development Pathway pwedeng ma-diagnose ano ang learning needs ng entrepreneurs on different stages, helping us see it with a more precise instrument,” Executive Director Nestor Palabyab said in an interview with Global Dominion describing a section of the program.
Special Guest Speakers Paulo Tibig, Dean Pax Lapid, Jorge Noel Wieneke, and Karen Pacia, also delivered short seminars for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs. Each session builds up on an entrepreneurial journey from discovery to execution, featuring mentors who are actual business practitioners. The last session with Elizabeth Manuel capped the whole event with a snapshot of the pertained programs and services for the MSMEs.
Through this initiative, PTTC shall be maximizing collaborative efforts with the private sector, the academe, and new partners, emphasizing on the value of learning. This means new and improved content for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs who will become part of the academy, as pointed by Palabyab.
“You have a role to play, on the lecturing, even with the lending,” DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez stated when asked by Global Dominion about how the institution sees financing and/or lending companies as part of the academy. “We’ll allow you to give lectures, teach financial literacy, basic finance management, if you have lectures on accounting and bookkeeping, we can invite you to be a certified speaker and be part of the system,” Lopez added. Global Dominion Financing Inc. fully supports the comprehensive and continuous growth of the MSMEs in the Philippines, in full alignment with its purpose to help Filipino families achieve their goals and dreams through accessible financing products and services.
