#GlobalPinoy Champions of the World!

2019 hasn’t even been capped yet, but we can already conclude that we’ve been blessed with honor and recognition in the international scene this year. Listed are the #GlobalPinoys who have recently brought home the bacon! 

Hidilyn Diaz 

Hidilyn Diaz, the 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist, again, lifted 214kg and captured another bronze medal in the women’s 55kg category of the 2019 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships on Friday, September 20 in Pattaya, Thailand.  

 

Carlos Yulo 

Carlos Yulo, who scored 15.300 and won the Philippines’ first gold in the men’s floor exercise of the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, October 12 in Stuttgart, Germany. 

 

Nesthy Petecio 

Nesthy Petecio, the second Filipino to win the gold medal in a world championship in less than 24 hours, ruled the featherweight division after edging Liudmila Vorontsova by split decision in the final of the 2019 Aiba Women’s World Boxing Championships on Sunday, October 13 at FSK Sports Complex, Ulan-Ude, Russia. 

 

Jeanyfer Garvilles Ozbot 

Miss Philippines Jeanyfer Garvilles Ozbot of Iloilo City crowned Miss Asia Global 2019 2nd Runner-up title in India held from October 24 to November 1. Jaenyfer showcased Filipino culture by performing the traditional Yakan dance “Pansak Si Laley” during the talent competition,and wore a modern Filipiniana terno for her national costume was designed with native Filipino textile hablon and patadyong, designed with multi-colored feathers, rhinestones and beads.  

Jose Saguban 

Philippine cacao farmer of Davao received his international award in France. The prestigious International Cocoa Awards (ICA) of the Cocoa of Excellence (CoExProgramme was personally received on October 30 by farmer Mang Jose when he was brought to Paris by Auro Chocolate. 

  

 Be it in sports, movies, or sciences, we, Pinoys have been leaving marks across the globe. This year we’ve been allowed to showcase our talent, wit, and passion to the world which made us all proud.
