Why We Delay Difficult Work

Do you think about a task and say “Nako! Mamaya na ‘to!”

It probably came from “Mañana Habit”. It is an approach to thinking and acting that was developed from repeated task-avoidance situations in the past. Although it is sometimes associated with laziness, it can occur in hard-working individuals as well.

Delaying work that you know needs to be done and decide not to do it in favor of another enjoyable activity is known as procrastination.  You can spend your time on pointless activities that keep us busy but ultimately amount to nothing, rather than working on the tasks that truly matter. It is the brain’s propensity to prioritize current benefits over those that will come later. Kaka-set aside since matagal pa naman need, tapos di mo namamalayan ang bilis ng oras, tapos dahil minimal amount of action lang ginawa mo, sa present, you’ll start to extend the timeline or mag-iiba ka na lang ng plano. We became scared of work we dislike, we put off acting in any way to get away from the pain of the current bad feelings. If unmanaged, it can create chaos and irreparable damage in our lives. We will certainly pay later because we don’t take immediate action.

To overcome procrastination:

  • Make things less intimidating and easier to begin by breaking them down into smaller, more achievable steps.
  • Take action to conquer your fears: Determine and deal with any underlying anxieties or fears that may be driving you to put off tasks.
  • Lessen the tendency to put off activities by putting time management, prioritization, and deadline-setting strategies into practice.
  • To keep oneself inspired and goal-oriented when taking action, picture yourself succeeding at tasks and accomplishing your objectives.

Several benefits can arise from overcoming procrastination:

  • Enhanced productivity: You’ll be more effective at your jobs and projects since you’ll complete more in less time.
  • Reduced stress: Since you won’t be preoccupied with impending deadlines or incomplete tasks, beating procrastination can help you feel less stressed.
  • Better time management is possible when you overcome procrastination and allocate your time more wisely to crucial projects and activities.
  • Improved concentration and focus: You can focus better and remain focused on the task at hand by starting and finishing things on time.
  • Confidence boost: Overcoming procrastination can give you more self-assurance and faith in your skills, which can result in a more favorable self-perception.

The journey is the reward. Positive things happen when we overcome delaying difficult work. We’re less worried because we accomplish more in less time. We get better at time management and maintaining task focus. We become more assured of our skills and abilities as a result. We generate greater quality work since we don’t rush. In general, conquering procrastination increases personal development and self-worth.
